Abstract: Bis (acetylacetonato) dioxomolybdenum (VI) reacts with disalicylaldehyde malonoyldihydrazone (CH2 salmlhH4.) to yield an unstable monomeric yellow complex of the type [(MoO2)2 (CHsalmlhH4.) (H2O)2].H2O {complex (A)} which is transformed into an intermediate complex [(MoO2)2 (CHsalmlhH)(H2O)]2. 4H2O {complex (AB)} after sometime. The reaction mixture ultimately yields a stable brown isomer complex [(MoO2)2 (CH2salmlh (H2O)]2 4H2O {complex (B)}. All the products have been characterized by various physico-chemical techniques and infrared and 1H NMR spectroscopic studies.
