Abstract: Knowledge regarding the distribution of active elements on the support is essential during catalyst development, scaleup an manufacture. It also gives an insight into the deactivation mechanism of the catalyst. A simple method that involves no tedious sample preparation procedure, for determining the distribution of active elements simultaneously in bimetallic reforming catalyst is described. The merits and drawbacks of such measurements with conventional energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDXS) attached to scanning electron microscope are discussed.
