Abstract: Cationic-anionic complexes of the type [M(L-L)3] [M'(DED)2] (where M = Ni(II), L-L = en, bipy or o-phen, M'=Zn(II), Cd(II) or Hg(lI), DED= 1, 1-dicarboethoxy- 2, 2-ethylene dithiolate) have been prepared and characterized on the basis of analytical, molar conductance, molecular weight, magnetic susceptibility, electronic and infrared spectral data. The magnetic and electronic spectral studies suggest an octahedral geometry around Ni(II). The IR spectral studies suggest symmetrical bonding of both the sulphur atoms of the ligand-DED.
