Title: Spectral and biocidal studies on some unsymmetrical borole complexes of semicarbazones

Abstract: Reaction of unsymmetrical monoisopropoxy boranes with heterocyclic semicarbazones have been carried out in benzene as solvent and the liberated isopropanol has been fractioned off azeotropically with benzene. The resulting products are coloured solids and appear to be resistant to hydrolysis. These have been characterized hy elemental analyses and molecular weight determinations. The mode of bonding in these complex has been discussed based on IR, 1H NMR, 11B NMR and 13C NMR spectral studies. The semicarbazones and the respective boron complexes have been screened for antifungal and antibacterial properties.
