Title: Synthesis and spectral studies of ruthenium(lll) complexes with (mono, di-seleno )bis(β-diketone) and imidodi( thiocarbonic acid-O-alkyl ester)

Abstract: The treatment of triphenylphosphine and triphenylarsine complexes of the type [RuX3(EPh3)3] (where X=CI or Br; E=P or As) and [RuBr3(PPh3)2(MeOH)] with mono and di-seleno bis(βdk) (βdk = acac) leads to the formation of bridged binuclear complexes having the general formula [RuX2(EPh3)2]2Se(C5H6O2)2 and[RuX2(EPh3)2]2Se2(C5H6O2)2. Further, the reactions of [RuX3(EPh3)3] and [RuBr3(PPh3)2(MeOH)] with imidodi(thiocarbonic acid-O-alkyl ester) (alkyl= ethyl, isopropyl) gave a series of new complexes of the type [RuX2(EPh3)2(LL')] (LL' = imidodi(thiocarbonic acid-O-alkyl ester)]. These complexes have been characterised on the basis of their elemental analysis, IR, electronic spectra, EPR, magnetic moment and cyclic voltammetry. An octahedral geometry has been tentatively proposed for all the complexes.
