Title: Synthesis, reactions and characterization of novel homoleptic isopropoxometallates of samarium(III)

Abstract: Homoleptic isopropoxometallates of samarium(III) of the types [Sm{Zr(OPri)5}3], [Sm{Zr2(OPri)9}3], [Sm2{Zr3(OPri)14}3], and [Sm{M(OPri)6}3] have been prepared respectively by the reactions of SmCI3.3PriOH with K{Zr(OPri)5}, K{Zr2(OPri)9}, K2{Zr3(OPri)14} or K{M(OPri)6} (M = Nb or Ta) in desired molar ratios in benzene medium. Reactions of Sm{ Nb(OPri)6}3 with an excess of CH3OH or (CH3)3COH under reftuxing conditions produced [Sm{Nb(OMe)6}3] . and [Sm{Nb(OPri)(OBut)5}3] respectively. All these complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, spectroscopic (lR and NMR) as well as molecular weight (ebullioscopic) studies.
