Title: Dimetallic manganese(II) complexes with ONO donor tridentate schiff bases derived from ortho-aminobenzyl alcohol and salicylaldehyde or substituted salicylaldehydes

Abstract: A few new dimetallic manganese(II) complexes of the type [Mn(H2O)2 (AAA)]2 (where AAAH2 = schiff base derived from salicylaldehyde, 5-nitrosalicylaldehyde, 5-chlorosalicylaldehyde, 5-bromosalicylaldehyde, 3,5-dichlorosalicylaldehyde or 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde and ortho-aminobenzylalcohol) have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, molecular weight, electrical conductance, infrared spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The schiff bases act as ONO donor dibasic tridentate ligands. A dimetallic six-coordinated and octahedral ,µ-bis(schiff base )tetraaquodimanganese (II) structure is suggested for the complexes.
