Abstract: A series of novel mixed-ligand cyanonitrosyl complexes on Mn(I) have been synthesized by the reaction of pentacyanonitrosylmanganate (I) anion ([Mn(NO)(CN)5]3-) with 2- or 3- pyrazoline -5- one derivatives. The products which have been characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance measurements, magnetic susceptibility measurements, thermogravimetric analysis, electronic and IR spectral studies, have the general formula [Mn(NO) (CN) (L)2 (H2O)] (where L = 2- or 3- pyrazoline -5-one derivatives). Octahedral configuration with low-spin {Mn(NO)}6 species has been suggested for these complexes.
