Abstract: Attempt has been made to obtain sea surface temperature (SST) from routine observations of dry bulb and dew point temperatures and pressure of air at 10 m height above the sea surface using Bowen's ratio, viz. β = 0.63 + 0.63 – 0.15 has been used to obtain SST where γ is the ratio of specific heat of air at constant pressure and latent heat of evaporation at SST and F is the slope of the saturated specific humidity curve at SST. The present method is more suitable for calculating SST.
