Abstract: Electron density distribution as a function of true height is studied at the equatorial station Thmba for the years 1965 and 1967, from ionograms using Budden's method [Rep. Camb. Conf. on Ionosph. (Physical Society London), 1954, 332], The shape of the dally variation of NmaxF2. A change from l965 to 1957 and the noon bite out is prominent in April and July, but nearly absent in January. It is observed that the ionosphere at Thumba can, generally, be presented for any season or year by two sets of standards electron' density profiles, one for the daytime hours and another for the nighttime hours.
