Title: On the Determination of Electron Temperature from Riometer Measurements

Abstract: The various procedures adopted for the indirect determination of electron temperature (Te) are reviewed with special reference to those making use of riometer measurements. It is shown that riometer can be very usefully employed to estimate the electron temperature around the F2 - peak for ionospheric conditions when f0F2 is more than 6 MHz When f0F2 is very low, it is rather difficult measure Te by this technique. While discussing the practical utility of the riometer technique to determine Te by a new easily applicable method, a more practical procedure is outlined to separate out the D-and E-region component from the total absorption.
