|Abstract:||A preliminary investigation is made about the information obtained on the movements of E-region ionospheric irregularities by the fading experiment. The nature of movements observed and the ionospheric region responsible for the observed fading is investigated by analyzing a few day-times E-region drift records and a few night-time blanketing type Es drift records by the cross-spectral analysis. The former corresponds to a case where there is uncertainty, if at all it exists, in the height of reflection, and this uncertainty does not exist in the latter case. The results show that in most of the cases the fading is due to a bodily motion of a few (often two or three) classes of irregularities and that the fading is superimposed at or very near the height of reflection.|
