Title: Effect of Wind & Finite Exposure in Photographic Determination of Effective Radius of Luminescent Vapour Clouds Released in the Upper Atmosphere

Abstract: Determination of diffusion coefficient in the upper atmosphere requires accurate measurement of increase in the half-width radius of luminescent vapour cloud with time; and usually, the half• widths are obtained by photographic photometry. Effect of wind motion and finite exposure time has to be corrected for. Exact form of this correction is derived and discussed. It is concluded that the required correction to the half-width radius is small for velocities up to 100 m/sec and exposure time of 10 sec or less.
