Title: 'Best' Estimates of the Amplitudes of Diurnal & Semidiurnal Components of Sq (H) & Their Annual Variations

Abstract: A semiannual oscillation of Sq (H) with its amplitude increasing with solar activity is shown to exist at Alibag also, indicating that this phenomenon is probably global as suggested by C. U. Wagner [Gerlands Beitr. Geophys., 78(1909), 120]. Some characteristics of the variations are, however shown to be different from those observed at median and high latitudes. A minimum in the amplitude of Sq (H) at Alibag is observed in September during low activity, which is absent during high solar activity. It is suggested that this feature is caused by the seasonal movement of northern Sq current focus.
