dc.description.abstractAn analytical expression based on Born-Bethe and Moller formulae is proposed for the energy spectrum of secondary electrons produced by the electron impact ionization of atoms and molecules. The results obtained for the ionization of He, N2 and O2 are in fair agreement with the experimental data of Opal et al. [Opal, C. B., Peterson, W. K. & Beaty, E. C., J. chem. Phys., 55 (1971). 4100] for impact energy E ≥ 100 eV and also with the Born calculations performed by employing generalized oscillator strength for E ≥ 300 eV.en_US
