Title: Forbush Decrease & Geomagnetic Storms in relation to Varying Interplanetary Parameters

Abstract: Using the hourly neutron monitor data for the present solar cycle, the characteristics of all the Forbush decreases (FDs) have been studied. Statistically, the rigidity spectral exponent is found to be 0·8 ± 0·2. It is seen that most of the FDs occur in coincidence with sudden storm commencements and the largest FDs are produced by solar flares occurring near the central meridian. These results are discussed in terms of earlier observations.
