Abstract: The effects of solar proton events of June '72 and Aug. '75 observed on 2.4 MHz Al noontime absorption at Waltair, a low latitude station (17o 43' N) are reported. A significant increase of about 30% in the noontime absorption is observed on the peak day of the events. The results are discussed in the light of the present concept of particle precipitation in the equatorial region.
