|Title:||An Interactive Approach towards Rapid Analysis of Track Data in Plastics Using Graphic Displays|
|Abstract:||Energetic particles, when traversing solid state insulating media leave damage trails that can be revealed as characteristic tracks by suitable chemical etching. Measurements on the geometry of the tracks can reveal the identity of the particles and also their' energy. However, the extensive analysis required to decode this information from the raw track data, poses a handicap to more widespread use of such detectors. An attempt has, therefore, been made to computerize the data analysis procedure using such recent developments in computing software, as interactive programming techniques and graphic information displays. This programme package has been developed on the DEC System-10 installation at the National Centre for Software Development and Computing Techniques (NCSDCT), and makes extensive use of the General Purpose Graphics System (GPGS), which has been developed at this Centre.|
