dc.description.abstractThe solar ultraviolet influx continuously incident on the Jovian atmosphere gives rise to a photo-electron distribution in the Jovian atmosphere. Taking Jovian neutral gas density and the flux of solar ultraviolet radiation from Pioneer-10 measurements the ultraviolet emission produced by excited atoms and molecules have been computed. The height profiles for volume emission rates of HI-Ly-ɑ (1216 Ǻ) and Hel (584 Ǻ) resonance lines have been computed and compared with earlier results.en_US
