Abstract: An anomalous behaviour of the vlf atmospherics in the form of a long-period fading has been observed frequently during flood-rainy days over Calcutta. The anomaly was observed both during day and night. It is suggested that the fading might be due to internal atmospheric gravity wave of meteorological origin affecting the ionosphere.
