Title: Estimation of Effective Recombination Coefficient & Its Variation with Height for D-region

Abstract: The methods of calculating the effective recombination coefficient (ɑ) of lower D-region, namely, (a) post-sunset decay and (b) post-flare decay of integrated field strength on 27 kHz atmospherics have been described. Both the methods give nearly the same values of ɑ. Data on ɑ at different heights have been collected and plotted against height on log log scale. The relationship is found to be linear. A simple formula has been developed to indicate this linear relationship.
