|Abstract:||The effects of the solar eclipse of 16 Feb. 1980 have been studied at Gauhati (geogr.lat., 26°10'N; geogr.long., 91°45'E; dip 37°N). The parameters foF2, h'F and hpF2 were found to increase during the eclipse. The FI and F2 ionization densities changed in senses opposite to each other. This suggests that ionization is transported from lower to upper layer, thereby causing enhancement of ionization in F2-layer. Wavelike patterns have been observed in the variations of foF2 and fmin. The observed undulations have been linked with gravity waves, possibly induced during the eclipse.|
