Abstract: The accuracy of stratospheric and lower mesospheric wind values measured at two stations Sriharikota (lat., 13.7°N; long., 80.2°E) and Balasore (lat., 21.5°N; long., 86.93°E) by radar tracking of copper chaff released from RH-200 rockets and the data processing method adopted to reduce the random errors are discussed. A statistical estimate of the standard error of the wind measurements is obtained from the measurements of two or three radars simultaneously tracking the chaff.
