Title: Radiation from Circular Microstrip Antenna in an Ionized Medium

Abstract: The radiation properties of a circular microstrip antenna in an ionized medium, using hydrodynamic equations and potential function technique are studied. Expressions for the EM mode and the P mode fields are derived and results computed for different frequencies. It is observed that the EM mode fields are similar to other conventional antennas whereas the P mode fields show discrete ray-like structure. Other parameters like radiation conductivity, radiation efficiency, directivity and quality factor are also computed for the ionized media as well as for free space. Comparison with experimental results recorded by earlier workers is also made.
