Abstract: Microwave discharge of atmospheric gases and collisional processes between dissociated atoms and molecules have been studied. The investigation consists of spectroscopic studies of microwave discharge of molecules and of reaction glow of dissociated atoms and molecules. It also includes investigations on quenching coefficient and quenching mechanism and micro photometric observation and mass spectrometric studies of reaction glow. The spectra excited by microwave discharge have been .compared with those excited by spark discharge and proton bombardment.
