Title: Estimation of Water Vapour Attenuation Variations at Microwave Frequencies

Abstract: Water vapour attenuation variations have been studied in the frequency range 10-26.5 GHz. Zenith antenna temperatures at 10, 11, 14, 18, 20, 22.235, 24, 25, 26 and 26.5 GHz have been determined for the water vapour content of 5, 10, 15 and 20 g/m3, respectively. Antenna temperature, as expected, is negligible below 10 GHz, but it increases with increase in frequency thereafter, becoming maximum at the water vapour resonance line of 22.235 GHz, and then decreasing with further increase in frequency. The attenuation values in terms of dB have also been evaluated.
