Abstract: | The sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) is a spectacular dynamical event that occurs in the high latitude middle atmosphere during winter and remains a subject of intensive study till now. With the availability of the rocketsonde temperature and wind data for the low latitudes, occurrences of warmings in the low latitude atmosphere have also been identified recently. The current status and the future prospects of research in the low latitude stratwarm phenomenon are reviewed. |
