Abstract: Using well accepted current waveform by Bruce and Golde [J Inst Electr Engrs (GB), 88 (1941) 487], the close magnetic field of oriented channel has been calculated for primary return stroke. It is found that the orientation of the channel plays an important role in studying the various features of lightning discharges. The complete and exact knowledge of the magnetic field caused by the non-verticality of the lightning channel is desirable in magnetic and geoelectricity measurements.
