Title: Magnetic field intensity as a measure of diffusion strength at low latitudes

Abstract: Following the quasi-linear pitch angle diffusion theory, an expression for limiting magnetic field intensity of low latitude incoherent whistler mode waves has been derived. The limiting magnetic field intensity is then compared with the magnetic field intensities observed experimentally both at the low latitude ground stations and aboard satellite to estimate the diffusion strength at low latitudes. The diffusion is found to be generally very weak at low latitudes, which implies that the low latitude whistler mode magnetic field intensity hardly exceeds 10-8 2 Hz-1.
