Title: Predicted visibility due to fog by microwave radiometric measurements at 9.6 GHz

Abstract: Attenuation values due to fog obtained by microwave radiometric measurements at 9.6 GHz during the winter of 1987 are presented. Regular rise in the attenuation is observed around evening hours showing a marked increase past midnight and during early morning hours. Liquid water contents in g/m3 various measured values of attenuation for different fog heights are also given. Based on the liquid water content and the attenuation and making use of visibility versus liquid water content, predicted values of visibility in terms of observed attenuation in dB are presented.
