Abstract: A single specimen of Roa jayakari measuring total length 85.3 mm weighing 15.3 g was collected from trawl bycatch of a multiday trawler of Visakhapatnam fishing harbour. Morphometric and eristic characters of the recorded specimen are described and discussed. Present occurrence of this species is the first record from east coast of India that is range extension of its known distribution within Indian Ocean.
