Abstract: In this study, grape seed oil was transesterified with methanol using sodium hydroxide as a catalyst to obtain Grape Seed Oil Methyl Ester (GSOME). It was basically identified through FT-IR spectrum. The blends are such as B10 (90%diesel+10% GSOME), B15 (85%diesel+15%GSOME), B20 (80%diesel+20% GSOME) and D100 (100% Diesel) were tested in a compression ignition diesel engine. Fuel properties were determined using American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the engine performance and emission parameters were analyzed for those test fuels for different brake mean effective pressure (bmep) at constant engine speed of 1500 rpm. The experimental results show that all the blends provided significant reductions in NOx and higher specific fuel consumption than D100.
