Abstract: The trivalent cobalt complex, [Co(HL)2](OAc).H2O (1) [H2L = N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-3-methoxysalicylaldimine], behaves as an effective catalyst towards oxidative dehydrogenation of o-aminophenol to 2-aminophenoxazine-3-one in aerial oxygen. The reaction follows Michaelis-Menten enzymatic reaction kinetics in methanol with turnover number (Kcat) = 2.83×104 h-1.
