Abstract: Iron-catalyzed cyclization of aminothiol with various aromatic and heteroaromatic aldehydes produces a variety of benzothiazoles in moderate to excellent yield. Compound 3o with one carbazole functional moiety bridged between two benzothiazole scaffolds is found promising and contributes to significant antimicrobial, MBC and anti-biofilm activities.
