|Abstract:||Synthesis of a series of 1,4-substitued triazoles has been accomplished starting from piperonyl alcohols prepared by the addition reaction of piperonal with Grignard reagent. Key features of the synthesis include ZrCl4 catalyzed nucleophilic substitution on piperonyl alcohol by TMSN3 and subsequent copper catalyzed click reaction with alkyne to form 1,4-disubstitued triazoles. The significant antimicrobial activity of synthesized azides and 1,4-substituted triazole derivatives has also been evaluated. Characterization of all the compounds has been carried out by IR, 1H NMR, MS and elemental analysis.|
