|Abstract:||A new formulation based on tetrakis (hydroxymethyl)-phosphonium chloride (THPC), thiourea and small amounts of ammonium dihydrogen orthophosphate has been tried as an agent for imparting flame retardancy to cotton textiles. The effect of laundering on the tensile strength tear strength char length crease recovery, flex abrasion, air permeability and oxygen index of the treated sample has been studied. The treated fabrics exhibit flame-retardant properties even after 30 launderings. The performance of the formulation les within the limits specified in ASTM standards.|
