Abstract: The feasibility of using the MgCI2.6H2O-citric acid mixed system for wrinkle-resistant finishing of cotton textiles using the conventional hot air stenters only has been investigated in the light of the known limitations of the mild-cure and steam-cure techniques, viz. reduced production rate and requirement of special equipment like superheated (HT) steamer. Preliminary studies made on pilot plant scale have shown that it is possible to use this catalyst system in appropriate proportions of magnesium chloride and citric acid for single stage rapid-curing of DMDHEU treated cotton fabrics by judicious choice of temperature and duration of curing.
