|Title:||Imperfections inJute Fibre (Corchorus capsularis Linn.)-Morphological Characters|
Bandyopadhyay, S B
|Abstract:||Various imperfections in C. capsularis (white) jute in green, raw retted and mill-processed states, as observed by micro techniques adopted for C. olitorius (tossa) jute [Bandyopadhyay S B & Mitra B, Indian J Text Res, 4 (1979) 77], are reported. The two species have many common features. A few dissimilarities, however, exist in degree. It is suggested that the effect of secondary grouping of cell-bundles in capsularis jute, causing greater meshiness, may be reduced by adopting suitable softening treatment and carding mechanism; the technological status of the fibre may thus be raised above that of olitorius jute.|
