Abstract: Silicon coordinated dyes have been prepared by reacting silicon tetrachloride with dyes derived from pyrazolone and acetoacetanilide in toluene in the presence of triethylamine. The silicon coordinated azo dyes are stable to water, hydrochloric acid (10%) and sodium hydroxide (10%) even on boiling. However, in dioxane, the complexes decompose when boiled with acid and alkali to give the parent dyes.
