Abstract: Four Indian cottons, viz. Bengal desi, J-34 roller ginned, J-34 saw ginned and 1007, were spun on a BD 40 RC machine using a small and a large doffing tube as provided with the machine. The large doffing tube (diam. 4.8 mm), which presumably provides a higher false twise due to its shape and position inside the rotor, gave improved spinning performance, substantially reduced rotor deposit and slightly better yarn quality.
