Abstract: The effect of various process variables on the characteristics of stuffer-box crimped yarns has been studied. It has been observed that the preheater temperature and the nip pressure of the impeller roller play an important role in reducing the yarn modulus, which results in reduction in the crimp geometry of the yarn. The weight of the egress tube, yarn plug density and the percentage overfeed also contribute to the quality of crimped yarn. The stuffing tube diameter affects the action of the egress tube, which results in change in crimp parameters of yarn.
