Abstract: A correlation exists between the strengths of seam and weftway cloth in A. Twill jute bags sewn with overhead and safety stitches. Experiments were done on such bags collected from 22 different sources to study seam strength, cloth strength and the nature of seam failure. A relationship between seam strength and weftway cloth strength of such bags has been worked out.
