Abstract: An attempt has been made to evaluate the splicings for their performance in weaving. The process of splicing, particularly for low-quality yarns, not only reduces the yarn strength, elongation and abrasion resistance but also introduces into the yarn some very weak splicings, which, in turn, could be the source of warp breaks in weaving. Microscopic examination of such splicings revealed that they have an inherent deficiency in the structure itself which renders them to be weak.
