Abstract: | A low-energy one-step process for fabric preparation has been developed using sodium persulphate (sodium peroxodisulphate) as peroxygen compound. The concentrations of hydrogen peroxide, sodium hydroxide, sodium silicate and sodium persulphate have been optimized to give acceptable whiteness, strength and wettability to treated fabrics. The fabric bleached by the proposed method has been found to be superior in whiteness and strength to the one semi-bleached and quite comparable to the one full-bleached by the conventional three-stage process. |
