Abstract: Fibres of Chokla and Merino wools have been examined for physical and morphological characteristics. Merino fibres show ortho/para cortex in 2:1 proportion with a clear bilateral cortical structure whereas Chokla fibres appear to be para dominant. The relatively poor thermal stability of Merino wool has been correlated to its cortical morphology.
