Abstract: The effect of soap solution on the macromolecular parameters of mulberry silk fibre have been studied using the small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) technique. Applying the theories of Vonk and Ruland, it is observed that the system comes under non-ideal two phase system characterized by the continuous variation of electron density at the' phase boundary. The increase in the value of average periodicity transverse to the layer on boiling the silk fibre in soap solution at 9Sec is not significant. This indicates that the fibre is not much affected by the soap solution.
