|Abstract:||The effect of dry and damp abrasive wear on the physical/mechanical properties of polyester-cotton fabrics has been studied using an Accelerotor tester with two distinct abraders-plain metal abrader for dry fabrics and ribbed metal abrader for damp fabrics. It is observed that dry abrasion renders the fabrics less stiff, damp abrasion stiffens them, while the high proportion of polyester fibre in the blend Improves the performance in physical/mechanical properties and abrasion resistance. Determination of a simple paired t-test showed no significant difference between unabraded and abraded (dry and damp). and between the dry-abraded and damp-abraded fabrics with respect to physical/mechanical properties except for compression % at 19 kNm-2 pressure and frictional residual curvature at 95% confidence interval.|
