Abstract: Concentration of green house gases such as CO₂ (0.5%), CO (1%) and 0₃ (2%) is increasing from various sources whereas the increasing ratio due to vehicles alone is 4.2 million per year. Green house gases affect the environment & produce many global issues such as global warming, climatic change, green house effects. The role of green house gases owing to road transport & use of alternative fuels for preventing green house gas emissions in an Indian scenario is discussed in this paper.
