|Abstract:||Several new 1-sugar-3-cyanoamidino carbamides have been synthesized by the interaction of sugar isocyanates with dicyandiamide in acetone medium. Furthermore, several novel 1-cyano-2-sugar-3-one-5-imino-1,2,4-triazolidines have also been synthesized by the oxidative cyclisation of 1-sugar-3-cyanoamidino carbamides. The identities of these newly synthesized carbamides and triazolidines have been established on the basis of usual chemical transformations and IR, 1H and 13C NMR, and mass spectral studies. The compounds have been screened for their antibacterial activity against pathogens like E. coli, S. aureus, P. vulgaris, S. typhi, K. pneumoniae, Ps. aeruginosa and for antifungal activity against T. harzianum and Verticillium species to get potent bioactive molecule.|
