Abstract: The open-circuit potential measurements of low carbon steel (0.05% C) as well as weight-loss measurements at different pH values ranging from 1 to 4 in solutions of different concentrations of two inhibitors sodium sulphite and hydrazine have been investigated in presence of chloroacetic acid solutions. The steady state potential shifted to more positive values by increasing pH from 1-2 while the corrosion potential increased to more negative values at pH 3-4. The corrosion rate increases with decrease in concentration of sulphite and hydrazine.
